Our name is inspired by one of Ireland’s most charming woodland residents, the red squirrel, or iora rua in Irish.

Red squirrels have long been part of Ireland’s natural landscape, making their homes among our woodlands and forests. Small, curious and full of character, they’re known for their fiery colouring, tufted ears and impressive ability to disappear into the treetops just when you’ve spotted one.

That sense of character and warmth makes the red squirrel the perfect inspiration for Rua. Our name is a simple celebration of Irish nature and heritage, with a little personality and playfulness along the way.
